I came across this little grammar issue last week when one of my clients talked about his sister's wedding day.
Here is my question. Please tell me which one is right.
The word church can be viewed as:
1) a building and use the preposition in and the article the
Example: He was in the church to clean the floor
2) An organization you can become a part of or the body of people belonging to it.
Example: I belong to the roman church. We both are in the church.
3) In and at without the use of the
I was in church last Sunday. I attended the ceremony in the church.
I was at church. I was at the ceremony Church.
Which is which?
