Yeah, each is about 50 minutes (or 55, depends when you get there) cuz we have 2 bells, five minutes apart.  After the first one, you start heading to class, and after the second one, you're late.  Ta-daaaa... Yeah, we have 40 minutes for lunch and a 10 minute break in between 2nd and 3rd period.  We start at 8:00 and go until 3:20.

We don´t have a fix time when school ends in the afternoon. Sometime hat half past 12, sometimes at 5 pm - together with our varied timetable every day is somehow different...

In university?  That's expected... hopefully you didn't have that in high school!

I can give you an example:

In my last year of school we had following schoolendingtimes:

Monday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Tuesday: 8:00am - 1:30pm

Wednesday 8:00am - 3:30pm

Thursday: 8:00am - 1:30pm

Friday: 8:00am - 12:30pm

And all the subjects I´ve discribed somewhere in this thread before were distributed to this week.

Well there are soooo many differences between our systems of school...

How many years is school compulsory in Canada? In Austria for 9 years.

Umm... well... you can technically live on your own and leave school when you're 16, but other than McDonald's, no other job takes in someone who hasn't graduated.  We have kindergarten, then elementary school (grades 1-5) middle school (grades 6-8) and high school (grades 9-12, sometimes called Senior 1-4) so in total, 12 grades plus kindergarten.

Well, you can leave at the age of 16, that means you have to go school at least for 10 years? Isn´t there anything like making an apprenticeship (I hope I´ve found the right vocabulary) after you´ve left school early?
