Tomorrow is again the New Year´s Eve and I´m just curious what you are going to do! Do you stay at home or are there any festivities out of your family??

Moi, I´ll be at my best friend in her village this year and I´m very happy about it, because she attends a new school since October this year which is far away and now I don´t see her as often as before...

That sounds like fun, Raphaela!

My parents and I are going to our friends (across the street) to celebrate New Year's there, like we usually do.  Last year they came to our house, this year we're going to their house, etc. etc.  When the clock hits midnight we usually open the door and scream "HAPPY NEW YEAR!" so everyone across the street can hear... it's fun!

Do you have any big fireworks on New Year´s Eve? I don´t want to imagine how much money is shot out this night every year....

Hahaha... you're right!  We could probably feed an entire third-world country on New Year's Eve alone...

And of course we have fireworks!  There's a community centre a few blocks over from my house, so we can see them and hear them quite clearly!  I know The Forks always has the most magnificent fireworks display in Winnipeg, so a lot of people are going there to party and celebrate New Year's.

My wish to you as well, even though it's only 4:30 here and probably close to midnight over there:  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

...should auld acquaintance be forgot...

I usually go to a party and have some real fun, but I had to work this morning so I stayed at home; my parents had some friends over and I went to bed at a relatively early 1:30.

Happy New Year

What did you do on New Year's, Raphaela?  Party?  Watch fireworks?  Etc.

I was at my best friend´s village (I don´t see her very often, because she started university in Salzburg last year) and we went to a pub where a little Silvesterparty took place. It was just a very nice atmosphere there - good music, nice people, lots of drinks...

Silvesterparty?  Qu'est-ce que c'est?

I like quiet parties, where you can talk with people and actually "talk" serious discussions, instead of "hey, how's it goin?"  "good, you?"  "good."

I had a party a little while ago with a few of my friends, I felt bad for my friend Jon because he was the only guy there and we were all talking girl-talk.  He said he had fun though.

On New Year's Eve, we played Scene-It.  Have you heard of the game?  It's a trivia game with a DVD and you answer questions about movies or tv and stuff like that...  so much fun!
