Because our Shakespeare thread changed its topic all the time I opened this one to discuss all books and all writers... Let´s start! First of all I´d like to name all authors I really like: Hermann Hesse - a German-Swiss writer who got the Nobel Prize in 1946 Thomas Mann - a German writer who got the Nobel Prize in 1929 and wrote many very fat books.... John Irving - especially his book A Prayer for Owen Meany (but I read it in German) Thomas Bernhard - one of the best Austrian writers in the 20th century Max Frisch - a Swiss writer and architect; one of the most representative writers of the German literature after World War II.

I think it is a great idea to have opened this thread!!! So...the authors I like include: -Sarah Dessen (umm...I like she's an AMerican authour) -James Fray (he's only written one book...American author as well) -Ann Brashares (not sure if she is Canadian or American) -Meg Cabot (?American?) -Judy Blume -Melody Mayer -Susan Juby -Cecily von Ziegesar -Lisi Harrison -Lauren Myracle
But ya that's about all i can think of at this very moment... My favourite books are: -Just Listen and Lullaby by Sarah Dessen -A Million Little Pieces by James Fray -All the travelling pants books (Ann B) -The Nannies by Melody Mayer -The alice books (susan j) -TTYL by Lauren Myracle
Okay, I have to explain to you one thing. The book TTYL by Lauren is really good. I recomend it to those of you who like teen like books that are written completly in msn lingo!!! It is quite good....

Meg Cabot is AWESOME! I love her name... heh heh I have one series by her called "1-800-WHERE-R-YOU" and they're about this girl who gets struck by lightning and can find people wherever they are just by looking at a photograph... sooooo cool! I used to be into Stephen King and Dean Koontz, but I'm not that into Horror anymore, they started giving me nightmares! Like I said in the other discussion, I'm reading Tamora Pierce again and she's SO GREAT! She writes lots of fantasy but hey... Apparently John Grisham and Robert Ludlum are really good, but I've never read their work. Frank Peretti's "The Oath" is amazing and you should all read it! It's historical fiction, but it's written in pretty much present day or just a few years back. Awesome!

I have a series of Meg Cabot's also...it's the Princess Diaries series...it was pretty good. I really need to start reading again...I mean I do it all the time but not as often...it doesn't help that school has started too...
Oh!! I know this is off topic but today there was a fire by my grandparents house....it was freaky because a tree had fallen on the hydro line and snapped the wire and a fire had started and there was an electric fence (not sure if it was working or not) right by it...

First of all I want to say, that I don´t like teen books at all (perhaps I´m too old for it - but I gave up reading them before my "teens" when I was 12) I read some Grishams when I was 15 I suppose, because in this period I loved criminal stories and stuff like that... Do you know Henning Mankell? He is a Swedish author, who writes criminal novels and they have all the same police inspector named Wallander. But he also wrote some other works with other topics. 3 or 4 years ago I read nearly every book of his serie, but now I´ve changed my taste!

Raphaela, you'd really like Robert Ludlum, I think.... he wrote the Bourne Identity and all the books that followed it... No, I haven't heard of the author you mentioned, but he sounds really cool! And yeah, I forgot... you're 19 right? Hahahaha I'm only 15, that's why I like the teen books lol

Perhaps I´ll try a book of Robert Ludlum.... And to my age: Yes I´m 19, but I´ve already said that I stopped reading teen books when I´was 12 or somthing like that.... But probably there was only reason - I´was reading so much and I knew all books for teens in my library so I changed shelves!
