I'm curious, and I'm sure everyone else is, to find out what different countries think of other countries... I'll start us off:

There are a bunch of Polish jokes here, saying stuff like "The Polish Weather Forecast tonight is dark, clearing up by morning." or "How do you tell if a polack (polish person) was golfing?  They're golf balls are painted green!" 

Terrible.. but funny nontheless!

By the way, let's make an agreement saying that we won't think any less of EACH OTHER by reading these comments, and that none of them are personal attacks.  We are all proud of our own country, this is just an experiment to see what everyone else says about it

Prejudices don´t have to be only negative - when we think about a country there are often some things we combine with it. For example: Italians only eat spaghetti, French have their typical dresscoat with this special cap,... That are not bad thoughts but mostly ridiculous!

I guess people think from Austria that everybody wear leather trousers and everywhere are white horses...

We also have many jokes about Poles - they are said to steal...

There's actually no prejudices that I know of for Austria... but apparently Germans eat lots of sausage and wear leiderhosen... Irish are always drunk and eating potatoes... British people have bad teeth and are too proper for their own good... the list goes on

Another sort of prejudice is, if you see somebody for the first time and already have bead thoughts about him/her and you think to know how he/she is. And I guess that happens to everyone of us! Often it´s impossible to change ones mind about these people afterwards, but there are also better examples... (I hope I didn´t write too confused)

prejudices.. yeah.. so I’ll try to list some prejudices of (or about ahh?) some countries…

italy: in sicilia there is no one not involved in mafia things, in milano everybody is dressed trendily, they all eat spaghettis

germany: unfriedly, bad mooded and can't pronounce the words Chance,Kaffe, china, Chemie, Michelin (chance, coffe, China, chemistry, Michelin)

america: all the people are fed, only eat fast food and everybody has a gun
(texas: cowboys; ny: people with briefcases)
 
ireland: always raining, foggy, red-haired people

France: they eat croisants for breakfast, besides baguettes. as raphaela said they wear these "hats", and every time with them:  brush and easel

Rusia: people there live on wodka, it’s always cold and they all wear those fur caps

sweden: red houses – with adjustment of Ikea, grassland, blond people,

spain: it’s hot and sunny always, everyone is tanned and loves soccer

china, japan, korea: they don’t have another than rice

Africa: black people without clothes, living in huts of straw

Australia: red, full of kangurus

poland: travel to poland - your car is already there

ok.. I know many of the things aren’t true, some others aren't prejudices, but this what comes to my mind when I think about them

Netherlands (Holland):  Bonnets, fluffy dresses, and of course, wooden shoes!

Sweden:  Same blonde look Lisa described, but always have names like, "Ula Inga Heisen Eisen Hoffer Woffer Herbie Derbie Guten Flugen..."

Scotland:  Can't understand a word they say, enjoy eating haggis and drinking Guinness Beer.

Ukraine:  They only eat perogies, cabbage rolls, and Borscht.

Germany:  FUßBALL!! (what? I like fußball!) Their language is mostly shouting, and they all wear swatiskas... (I KNOW that's not true!!)

Egypt:  Pyramids and papyrus

United States:  Before I say anything, the following is NOT TRUE and should NOT be taken seriously---  Ignorant, unintelligent, fat, war-hungry robots.

Japan:  Everyone has a "reset" button.

China:  Apparently they eat rice, chicken, baby cows, and dogs...

Russia:  Fur hats, vodka, and Soviet prisons...

Italy:  Pasta, pizza, olive skin, and thick accents.

Greece:  Feta cheese, olive oil, and lots of harbours.

France: Berets (those funny hats), art, baguettes & croissants, and thin moustaches.

Mexico:  Rich white tourists who live nextdoor to poor Mexican natives.

Switzerland:  Mountains, fresh water, and German language with lots of "ch" in them... (Chuchichastli!)

Wales, Luxembourg, Estonia, Croatia, Slovakia, and Bulgaria:  ...they really exist?

Australia:  Kangaroos, koalas, platypuses, kiwis, snakes, deserts, opera, very shovanistic, and they always say "g'day mate!"  (And, of course, Finding Nemo!)

Iceland:  Ice... of course!

Well, that'll all I have for now... I'm curious to see what people think of Canada though!  And don't worry, I don't take offense to ANYTHING you say about it, since it's most likely true... haha!

The sad thing is... it's pretty much true.  Canadians are slowly becoming like the Americans (not that it's a bad thing) but we're also trying to fight for our true identity.  The problem is that, with so many different people, Canada doesn't really have an identity... it's so mixed with so many different cultures, habits, governments, everything!  Oh yeah, it's also freaking cold in the winter.  Ever wonder why there's 300 million people in the U.S. but only 30 million in Canada?  It's because the smart people realize that they're going to turn into icicles and move south... and the other 30 million stayed behind... haha

And only some of us are lazy
