Ok, I'm surprised. He answered in a polite way. Don't expect very specific stuff, but it's a start. Take in account that it took him only an hour to answer.

Here's my original mail:

Mr. Idelson.

I don't know what the plans were, but after years of bad treatment, it finally happened: "Amazons Attack" massacred the character beyond repair.

The amazons are no more, leaving a memory of vicious and weak murderers.
The gods are no more, trapped by a b-class character ("Granny Goodness")
Her mother was replaced by some evil, unrecognizable character, who even tried to kill Diana
Wonder Woman herself, turned an unconfident, useless excuse for a superhero, while characters like Batman are being glorified at her expense (by the way, good one with turning him into a magician, duh)

All of her background has been destroyed, by a bad, bad crossover. Everything that made the character who she is has been undone.

William Moulton Marston (if you don't know, Wonder Woman's revolutionary creator), luckily can't see what's been done to her character.

There are many people who are actually considering dropping their DC titles, and readers of the book for many, many years, that are even leaving the title itself.

Again, I don't know what are DC's plans. If it's publishing disastrous stories in order to eventually cancel the title, then they'd rather cancel it without leaving such garbage behind.

Hey, Walter--

Thanks for writing. Most people don’t take the moment to do that, and I appreciate it. We knew the story would be controversial, to say the least, and that leaving things unfinished would also leave a bad taste in people’s mouths. I can understand why you and others are upset, but I can promise you that all of this is but a chapter in the larger story. There’s no way we wouldn’t redeem the Amazons or leave them MIA, if you will. The nice thing about comics is that you can do pretty much any type of story knowing that you can correct things if need be. The key is to not be capricious about it, and I promise you we weren’t.

Things haven’t run nearly as smoothly as they should on this title, almost from its inception, and I admit that the quality has at times been compromised. It’s been very frustrating to me. I do believe that the upcoming slate of stories with Gail Simone and Terry are very strong, and will be an awful lot of fun. I hope you’ll considering giving those a try before making your ultimate decision on the title. Having grown up reading comics, I know how important the treatment of the characters and the quality of the stories are, and I very much want to satisfy you and everyone else who plunks down their hard earned money to buy the books.

So know that your criticisms have been noted, and in certain ways are shared, and that we’re going to try and make you a happy camper in the months ahead.
