Are you reading this article at your desk? If not, is this something you should consider? Standing desks are growing in popularity, and sales of standing desks have skyrocketed in recent years...
People work an average of 40.2 hours, and most spend about 5 hours a week commuting to and from get off work. For office workers whose representatives spend 45 hours a week sitting. I spend a lot of time watching TV and eating, and I spend a lot of sedentary time.

Advantages of standing desks

Standing desks have been an interesting phenomenon in our offices and homes in recent years. As their benefits are highly debated, the many studies only add to the confusion about their benefits. While standing desks are no substitute for physical activity during the day, they can bring benefits by ensuring we sit less while still getting through our workday.

1.Research shows that standing desks can improve productivity and problem-solving skills.
The researchers assessed behavioral changes in office workers who received adjustable height desks that allowed them to switch between standing and sitting, and compared their behavior to those of workers at traditional desks. Half of the participants randomly selected from the ground floor of Perkins and Will's Atlanta office received adjustable-height desks, while participants on the other floors kept the traditional desk polling and questionnaires before installation and three Sedentary behavior, perceived stress, and persistent behavioral changes were measured at 12 months, six months, and 12 months.
Participants who received the height-adjustable desk reported a significant reduction in sitting three and six months after installation, compared with those who used a traditional desk. After twelve months, 88% of participants who received adjustable workstations reported that they were easy to use; 65% reported increased productivity; and 65% of respondents said they had a positive impact on their health outside the workplace. Participants with height-adjustable desks also reported better concentration and suggested their workplace.

2.Standing also helps your body burn more calories than sitting.
Do You Really Burn More Calories While Standing?
When you work standing up with an electric standing desk, you burn 100 to 200 calories per hour. It all depends on your gender, age, height and weight. By comparison, sitting only burns 60 to 130 calories per hour.
Think how fast this adds up! You can burn 120 to 210 extra calories by simply switching from sitting for 3 hours to standing.
While this may not help you lose a lot of weight, it can certainly help you maintain your current weight and reduce certain health risks.

3.Standing helps your body stretch, increases blood flow, and engages your core, hip, and leg muscles, reducing posture-related pain.
Sitting in a forward bent position puts a lot of stress on the entire lower back. Your lumbar discs can withstand 1.5 to 2 times as much force as standing. In addition, many people tend to lean forward with their necks and chins protruding forward when sitting. And when standing and holding the monitor at eye level, we're less likely to do that. Stand up straight with your knees straight and you don't need a lot of energy or muscle strength in your neck or back. Working while standing on a standing computer desk also burns more calories than sitting, and you get some exercise for your legs, which is good for your overall health and posture.

4.Standing desk advocates report increased energy levels and increased mental alertness.
Any spine consultant will confirm that sitting for long periods of time is bad for you.
Several studies have shown that sedentary and protracted static behaviors increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, malignancy, and overall, increase the risk of death. Don't sit or lie down for too long. It's good to get up and move your limbs from time to time.

Disadvantages of standing desks

1. Standing for long periods of time can cause joint and back pain, swelling and fatigue.
2. If you don’t choose an ergonomic standing desk, standing can also exacerbate poor posture, leading to postural syndrome.
3. Lack of long-term research on the impact of standing desks on the work environment.

If you're going to choose a standing desk, it's important to get it right. Below are our recommendations for proper use.

Use correctly

1. Correctly adjust the height of the standing desk. Your standing desk should be slightly below elbow height when your elbows are bent 90⁰ to the side of your body.
2. Position the screen correctly. The top 1/3 of the monitor should be at eye level.
3. Position the keyboard and mouse correctly. Using a standing desk with keyboard tray, you should be able to reach your keys and mouse without taking your elbows off the side of your body.
4. Stand with your weight evenly distributed over your feet, with your shoulders down, your lower back in a neutral position, your knees soft, and your head upright without bending forward.
5. Combine your standing desk with an anti-fatigue mat. This cushions your feet and 6. makes it easier for your body to stand.
When using a standing desk, bring a pair of comfortable flat shoes.

Incorrect usage

1. Wear high heels or uncomfortable shoes. Ladies, ditch the heels! Leave behind a pair of flats or comfortable sneakers that you can wear while standing at your desk.
2. Never lean against your desk. This can disrupt your posture and disrupt your standing.
3. Place your weight on one hip. Keep your weight evenly distributed between your feet.
4. Standing for too long initially. Enter your standing desk.

If you suffer from frequent back or neck pain, are concerned about your overall health, or feel increasingly tired after lunch, consider a standing desk to solve your problems. Not only can a standing desk help with your health issues, but it's also a great talking point and fun modern piece of furniture to add to your office space.
