I quite literally (and obviously uncorrectly) translated the phrase from German. Is there any equivalent for "anglicism", by the way?
Anyway, what I meant was more or less what you described. But not exactly. It's rather "putting it to one side, leaving it alone so you can avoid it and do nothing instead"...
