Israeli forces shot and killed a Jewish man in central Jerusalem overnight Wednesday after mistaking him for a "Palestinian attacker," Israeli police and media said.

In the midst of what has become known in Israel as the "knifers' Intifada", an unusual scene unfolded in Ramat Gan, where many of the residents are Iraqi Jews. A small slender woman was protecting a man lying on the ground who was being pursued by a mob of 40 people, including a few soldiers, who wanted to lynch him.

While lying on the ground, pepper gas was sprayed into his eyes at close range. He managed to whisper to his guardian angel: "I am a Jew." When the mob finally got the message, he was left alone.

He was chased because almost all the Iraqi Jews look like Palestinians; in fact, most of us Jews in Israel look like Palestinians. The only Jews who are "protected" are the Mizrahi Orthodox Jews who don the same clothes their Ashkenazi predecessors wore in 17th-century Europe, dismissing their traditional "Arab" dress.

Israel killed boys as they sought soldier’s help, group says

Two children shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron on Tuesday night had been asking a soldier for help, a Palestinian human rights group says.

Israel claimed that 15-year-old Bashar Jamil al-Jabari and his 17-year-old cousin Husam Ismail Jamil al-Jabari had tried to stab soldiers at a checkpoint in the city.

Israeli forces detain 26 Palestinians in East Jerusalem

sraeli forces early Thursday detained 26 Palestinians from across occupied East Jerusalem while clashes broke out in al-Issawiya, leaving one Palestinian injured.

Forces raided the Palestinian neighborhoods of al-Sawana, Silwan, Jabal al-Mukabbir, and al-Issawiya, entering several homes and bringing detainees to Oz police station in Jabal al-Mukkabir.

Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian in ongoing clashes east of al-Buriej refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, the Gaza-based Ministry of Health said Wednesday.

Spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf al-Qidra, told Ma'an that a 20-year-old Palestinian was shot with live fire in the foot, and taken to Shuhada al-Aqsa hospital in moderate condition.

Many did not anticipate the current courageous, comprehensive, and vital reaction of the Palestinian people to Israeli policies and practices in Jerusalem. Young Palestinians from the West Bank and Jerusalem, Gaza and Israel have overcome humiliating internal divisions to defend Jerusalem as a national cornerstone of the Palestinian liberation project – politically, religiously, symbolically, morally and ethically. These young Palestinians exceed the limits of “rationality” and are acting on strong convictions and a deep sense of national awareness.
