Have you been yearning to bask in the warm Hawaiian sunlight? Swim with the dolphins? Watch the whales? The opportunity is here while you work with your tutor or practice ESl with our community.
We have had previous visitors stay for 1 week to 3 months and while enjoying a wonderful Hawaii vacation worked on pronuciations and verbage of English.
We have a 1/2 acre in Kapoho with a five bedroom house / 3 baths / 2 kitchens. This is rustic, rural Hawaii at its best. You can experience the most beautiful, unspoiled tropical surroundings imaginable. We are within 3 minutes walking distance to the Waiopea Marine Conservation Area and snorkeling in our crystal clear tide pools. Relax in the naturally heated warm pond five minutes away, a breathtaking ride down the Red Road to beautiful Kehena Beach 20 minutes away. No matter what your choices are, you will be richly rewarded with taste after taste of our roads less traveled.
Pahoa, our nearest town about 8 miles away, is a funky little village of colorful people doing their thing. There are fun little shops to visit and we have some of the best offerings of restaurants on this side of the island. You will find superbly prepared Thai, Bueno Mexican food to name a few with funky decor, casual ambiance and a delightful surprise of wonderful cuisine. The "Natch" to locals or Pahoa Naturals is a fine health food store with a wonderful deli. The Makuu farmer's market has a abundance of farm fresh & organic fresh fruits and vegetables on Sundays! Share a rental car or no car necessary since the Hele-On Bus goes by the end of block twice a day to Pahoa and on to Hilo.
The community you will meet on the property is lively and spirited, although there is plenty of space for quiet and mediation. We ask there be no hard drugs, no misuse of alcohol, and respect for the aina (land). We ask you to celebrate the differences in the community. Our average summer temperature is 85 degrees and winter is 74 degrees.
The cost for this experience is $395 per week - which includes light breakfast / and evening meal / DSL / Dish Network / limited land line use. If you are brining a guest with you, the cost will be an additional $100 per person per week (to share a room). (If your stay is more extended, please ask about longer term.)
